Eoin Mc Hugh in Planet 9

Kunsthalle Darmstadt

30 May – 27 August 2017

Eoin Mc Hugh, Vostok, 2016, oil on canvas, 37 x 47 cm / 14.6 x 18.5 in

In 2016 Konstantin Batygin and Michael E. Brown postulated the existence of a ninth planet with an orbit of 10,000 to 20,000 years. While astronomers search for it, it becomes a metaphor that artists from many parts of the world bring into real and fictional life. Their works, many of which are specially designed for the Kunsthalle Darmstadt, occupy rooms of varying sizes and time slots. Thus the cluster of exhibitions, performances, interventions, screenings, readings, conversations, and more always looks different, similar to the planetary system that is just emerging. The exhibition «Planet 9» shows works by artists from Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, China, Germany, Honduras, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Canada, Colombia, Lebanon, Austria, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, and the USA.
