Film Screening:

A screening of Maguire's Blood Rising will take place at The Nerve Centre, Derry, 8pm on Friday 27 November. Part of the Foyle Film Festival.

A seminar will take place at Void, 7pm on Friday 27 November. Brian Maguire, Eamonn McCann and Ed Vulliamy will participate in the panel discussion, 'In The Absence of Justice'.

For his forthcoming exhibition with Void, Maguire is developing a new series of paintings, large works which interrogate the international war on and for drugs, the violence of a destabilised state and the darkness that permeates borderlands and trade between wealthy and poorer nations.

This new work extends Maguire’s investigation into the nature of violence in Juarez, which started with his work with the mothers and families of the victims of Juarez.

Blood Rising, co-produced by Mark McLoughlin and Brian Maguire will also form part of the exhibition. The film details Maguire’s portraiture and activism in response to ‘feminocidio’ – the murder of 1,400 young women in Juárez since 1994.
