... Line as Thought, Lines as Universe...is an exhibition that examines contemporary drawing practices in comparison to some of the pioneers of abstract drawing from the past few decades. The exhibition concept was initially inspired by drawings by the late Romanian artist Alina Popa. During an illness and until her death in 2019, Alina Popa created an incredible body of drawings that profoundly depict her experiences. The other drawings on display in the exhibition go in various conceptual and expressive directions, exploring the potential of drawing as an art form to represent the inexpressible and incomprehensible, as well as to circling ideas, space and the unknown in visual form and finally the boundaries of language and thought to test.
