Willie Doherty, Again and Again
Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, CAM, Lisbon, Portugal
20 November 2015 – 22 February 2016
Willie Doherty (Derry, Ireland, 1959) is one of the most prominent contemporary artists and has twice been nominated for the Turner Prize, in 1994 and 2003. He has represented Ireland at the Venice Biennial (1993 and 2007), was present at the S. Paulo Biennial (2003), and more recently participated in the 13th edition of Kassel Documenta. Working overall in video and photography, his singular universe is overshadowed by a tension between the individual and society, between nature and the urban environment. This exhibition takes on an anthological character and focuses above all on his most recent works.
